Plus One CEO Mike Motta Honored By IHRSA
Receives Dale S. Dibble Distinguished Service Award at IHRSA 2010
NEW YORK March 12, 2010 – Mike Motta, Plus One Health Management Co-Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer, was honored at this year’s International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) 2010 International Convention & Trade Show as the recipient of the Dale S. Dibble Distinguished Service Award. This award is presented each year to an individual within the Association who has excelled in their contributions to the industry and IHRSA. Past honorees of the Dale S. Dibble Distinguished Service Award include Herb Lipsman, President and CEO of the Health Club Company (2009), Geoff Dyer of Lifetime Family Fitness (2008), and Greg Lappin of the Rochester Athletic Club (2007).
Motta has over 28 years of experience in the fitness and wellness industry. From 2004 to 2008, he was a member of IHRSA’s Board of Directors where he served as chair of the Standards Committee. Motta is currently a member of the Senior Leadership Development Council and the Fundraising Committee for Health Promotion Advocates. He is also a member of the University of Massachusetts Amherst Advisory Board for their School of Public Health, a disaster relief volunteer for the American Red Cross, and volunteer firefighter. Before founding Plus One, Motta was a professor of Physical Education and football and lacrosse coach at SUNY/Albany. Motta has spoken at IHRSA conventions, numerous industry events, and continues to contribute his knowledge and time to IHRSA and the industry.
Under Motta’s leadership, Plus One was named one of Inc. magazine’s fastest-growing private companies for the past three consecutive years. In addition to transforming employee lives and wellness cultures of Fortune 500 companies nationwide, Plus One has been integral in providing a culture of growth and opportunity for its own employees. This culture has allowed the company to continue to expand despite the recent economic downturn.
“IHRSA is thrilled to recognize Mike as this year’s Dale S. Dibble Distinguished Service Award winner,” says IHRSA President and CEO Joe Moore. “Mike’s caring attitude is reflected in the culture of his company and has contributed to its great success. His long history of giving back to his community, his staff, to IHRSA and the club industry made him a natural choice for this award.”
"I am honored to accept this award on behalf of the Plus One professional men and women who really do the important work for our members every day,” says Motta. “This is their award as they afford me the freedom and confidence to devote time to IHRSA in their mission to promote, protect and grow our industry."
