Mike Motta

Founder and Executive Chairman

Mike Motta has over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur in the health, fitness, and wellness industry, focusing his efforts in staff leadership, personnel coaching/development, technology innovation, facility design, personal training, corporate wellness, and physical therapy.

In 1986, Mike founded Plus One as a personal training studio for celebrities and high profile clients. Since then, he has grown Plus One to an industry-leading national provider of corporate wellness programs and fitness centers. In this process of growth, he pioneered several industry innovations including the integration of orthopedics, physical therapy, nutrition and fitness into a commercial health club setting, introducing professional wellness programs in concert with spa services for five-star hotels and clubs, creating one of the first web-based personal training software applications and forming strategic partnerships with related corporate service vendors in order to provide Plus One’s clients with a more comprehensive wellness solution for their employees.

From 2004 to 2008, Mike served on the Board of Directors for the International Health and Racquet Sports Association (IHRSA) and was the 2010 recipient of IHRSA’s Dale S. Dibble Distinguished Service Award. He is currently a member of the National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity Business and Industry Sector Planning Committee, the University of Massachusetts Amherst Advisory Board for their School of Public Health and the Board of Directors for www.healthpromotionadvocates.org.

Before founding Plus One, Mike was a professor of Physical Education and football and lacrosse coach at SUNY/Albany. He received a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Ithaca College and completed three years of post-graduate studies in Applied Physiology at Columbia University in New York.

Mike is an active volunteer firefighter in Briarcliff Manor, NY, as well as an active volunteer at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. He was also a Disaster Relief volunteer for The American Red Cross with experience at Ground Zero on 9/11.

Chris Ciatto
Chief Executive Officer

Chris joined Plus One in 2005 and has leveraged his years of strategy, operations, and leadership experience to help the company achieve significant growth. In this time, Chris has implemented an overall growth strategy – including the execution of three successful acquisitions – that has propelled Plus One into its position as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the country.  He has driven many operational improvements around Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and Safety.  Prior to joining Plus One, Chris was credited with both the creation and leadership of a newly assembled services business unit for ARAMARK Corporation. Chris served as President of ARAMARK’s Clinical Technology Services business, a marketplace leader representing $320 million in annual revenues. Prior to his career at ARAMARK, Chris was a member of the partnership at the renowned strategy consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, where he focused on helping some of the country’s leading consumer and technology companies grow their businesses. Chris earned a joint Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Lisa Fierstein
Chief Financial Officer

Lisa is responsible for all of Plus One’s financial operations.  Lisa has 20 years of financial experience, most recently as CFO at the New Meadowlands Stadium Company. During her tenure there, Lisa was a critical member of the start-up organization, developing the operating finance structure by building the finance team and implementing the financial systems. Prior to that, Lisa was a member of Zagat Survey, where she was responsible for all of the organization’s financial operations, including planning and analysis of their business.  She has held various financial management positions within the advertising, media, entertainment, and telecommunications industries.  Lisa is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Rutgers University School of Business.

Matt Sylvestre
Chief Information Officer

Matt leads the strategic development and expansion of Plus One systems, client-facing technology service offerings, and partner web-based solution integration. Since entering the technology industry in 1993, Matt has combined his project management, software development, and system integration skills with practical business experience to help human resource service providers and e-commerce companies tangibly enhance their value propositions. Prior to joining Plus One, Matt transformed the legacy technology of the HR services company, TharpeRobbins, into the incentive, performance, and industry-leading software as a service platform. Matt also drove the successful implementation of Oracle ERP applications for the American Power Conversion’s Tokyo operation, leading a team in the first production implementation of Oracle Web Customer, an online customer service portal. Matt provided consulting services to Johnson & Johnson and Benefits Concepts, served as interim CIO at edu.com and managed the technical development and deployment of the Web 2.0 based social networking service, MomJunction.com. Matt holds a Master's degree in Management Information Systems from Bentley College and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bryant University.

Dave Milani
Vice President, Human Resources

Dave leads delivery of strategic and operational human resources services that ensure our talent is optimally deployed to meet the needs of our clients and participants. Dave has 10 years of experience in the development of progressive human resources practices that support growth-oriented organizations in various service industries. Prior to Plus One, Dave served as HR Director for RCG Information Technology, a nationally-recognized provider of information technology services to Fortune 500, mid-market and government clients. Prior to RCG IT, he helped develop effective human resources functions at Viatel, an international telecommunications provider and Magic Solutions International, a developer of help desk management software systems. Dave holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources Management from Rowan University, a Master's degree in Human Resources Management from Boston University and holds SPHR and CEBS certifications.

John Holding
Senior Vice President, Operations

John shapes and develops the strategy and infrastructure of Plus One’s field operations function. Prior to his current role, John served as the Regional Vice President overseeing Plus One’s corporate clientele in the Western U.S. as well as the company’s community-based BootCamp business. John has made significant contributions towards Plus One’s operational excellence, including his role in the analysis of Key Performance Indicators, the analysis of potential acquisition opportunities, and the development of Plus One’s Risk Management Manual. Before joining Plus One, John served as COO of TimeOut Services, a regional provider of fitness services in Northern California. Prior to that, John provided strategic and financial management consulting services to mid-sized, privately held companies. John has held general management, finance, strategic planning, and marketing positions with a number of companies and joined Plus One in January 2009 when Plus One acquired TimeOut’s corporate fitness center management and Community BootCamp operations. John earned his B.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Jennifer Sargent
Senior Vice President, Business Development

Jennifer leads the business development efforts and marketing strategy at Plus One. Jennifer and her team are the driving force behind securing key contracts with many industry-leading organizations and real estate developers. Prior to joining Plus One, Jennifer was responsible for developing and selling wellness programming for Medica, a mid-west health plan. She then transitioned into Matria Healthcare where she was responsible for developing and maintaining multiple corporate wellness sales channels and developing partnerships to facilitate new business development.  Jennifer then joined US Preventative Medicine where she led the sales and marketing efforts of this screening/coaching provider.  Most recently, Jennifer held a leadership role in the corporate wellness division of a national health and fitness organization, with a focus on screening and coaching services. Jennifer received a B.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and an M.S. in Kinesiology from the University of North Dakota. She also holds her M.B.A. from Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.

Nancy Ngai
Vice President, Health Promotion and Clinical Integration

As Vice President of Health Promotion and Clinical Integration, Nancy leads the strategic development and implementation of integrated wellness service and programming at Plus One. Prior to her current role, Nancy spent ten years with Plus One in various capacities including Wellness Coordinator, General Manager and Account Vice President for a Fortune 500 financial services firm. She has been instrumental in launching Plus One's wellness services and refinement of integrated program offerings. Nancy is a member of IHRSA and is ACE and NSCA certified. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a Concentration in Wellness and Health Promotion from SUNY Cortland.

Grace De Simone
Director of Group Fitness

Grace coordinates, implements and maintains the quality of all group fitness classes, programs and instructors. Grace has over 30 years of industry experience including teaching, presenting and managing in commercial (including single-gender), corporate, hotel, and community centers. Prior to joining Plus One Health Management, Grace was special projects coordinator for Frontline Fitness, a program coordinator, national fitness consultant and a regional manager for residential and hotel on-site fitness and spa projects for Club Corporations of America. She is also an accomplished freelance writer for health and fitness related articles, having been published in Family Circle, Parenting, Be Well, Shape, OnHealth.com, and Well and Healthy Woman.com. Prior to being Director of Group Fitness, she served as Director of Programming and Marketing. Grace is ACSM Certified and is an active member of the ACSM Certified Group Exercise Instructor Certification Development Workgroup. She is an editor for ACSM's Resource Manual for Group Exercise Instructor (LW&W 2010), and a member of the Fitness Advisory Board, IndoBoard Balance Trainer. She is also a member of the Program Director's Committee for the IDEA Association. Grace holds her Bachelor’s degree in Dance Education from Hunter College.

Barbara Fulmer
Vice President, Business Development

Barbara is focused on Plus One’s business development efforts in the Western US, with an emphasis on Plus One’s strategic partnership with Compass Group North America. She comes to Plus One with a strong corporate wellness background.  As founder and president of Get Corporate Health, a corporate wellness consulting firm serving large employers and healthcare organizations, Barbara has dedicated the last 15 years to increasing workforce health and wellness as a senior executive in sales and leadership. While Global Director of the Nestle/Jenny Craig Corporate Wellness Group, and corporate health strategist for Nutrisystem, and HealthyWage, Barbara  gained entry into many Fortune 1000 corporations.  Barbara is an accomplished facilitator and speaker represented by several leading speaker’s bureaus and is an active Council Member on the topic of workplace wellness with leading expert network organizations Gerson Lehrman Group, Coleman Research and DeMatteo Monness. She is a frequent industry blogger and has been featured in Fortune, Time magazine and the New York Times.  She has been an active member, keynote speaker and panelist at the National Business Group on Health in Washington DC, World Congress on Health and Human Capital, and World Congress on Obesity. She has also been an active participant in events sponsored by GlobalFit, SHRM, AAFP, Integrated Benefits Institute and the Health Institute for Productivity Management.

Dan Naylon

Vice President, Business Development

Dan is responsible for business development with a focus on fitness center management. Since 2004, Dan has been a catalyst of growth for Plus One with his passion for client service and dedication to the Plus One mission. Dan came to Plus One from Equinox Fitness where he had been the National Corporate Sales Director. Prior to Equinox, Dan spent seven years as the Corporate Sales Director for Town Sports International, which is the parent company of New York, Washington, Boston and Philadelphia Sports Clubs. Dan also spent six years as a Corporate Sales Consultant at the New York Health and Racquet Club. Dan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Buffalo.

deNelle O'Connor
Vice President, Business Development

deNelle focuses on business development efforts, strategic direction, and tactical implementation of the programs and services offered through Plus One’s strategic partnership with Compass Group North America. deNelle is a Registered Dietitian with a passion for creating integrated healthy lifestyle solutions for Plus One’s clients. deNelle joined Plus One in 2005, and since then she has worked in various roles, including Director of Nutrition and Global Wellness Director for a multi-site client. deNelle collaborates with Compass Group to develop integrated programs and operator tool-kits, improving the quality of service for our shared clients. deNelle earned a BS from the University of Alabama in Food and Nutrition and completed the Post baccalaureate Premedical Program at Columbia University.

Philip Swayze
Vice President, Health Promotion Development

Philip leads business development in worksite wellness and is responsible for strategic partnership development for Plus One.  Drawing from his years of experience in product development, Philip also provides counsel to the ongoing design and productization of Plus One’s suite of health management solutions.  Prior to joining Plus One, Philip was a senior consultant for The Health & Wellness Institute (HWI) managing national sales and supporting health plans in developing wellness solutions for their employer groups.  During his time with HWI, he was also involved in product development, designing social marketing constructs, and corporate branding and public relations for the Company. Philip is an active member of the HERO Think Tank chairing and serving on committees and sub-committees for the organization since 2009. Prior to entering the field of worksite wellness, he spent eight years in healthcare public relations.  Philip holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Vermont and an MS in Public Relations and Public Affairs from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.

Tom McCann
Director of Design and Development

Tom is responsible for new business development with a focus on fitness center design consulting services. Tom leads Plus One’s team of Project Managers in fitness center development and equipment procurement projects, working closely with clients, architects, interior designers, and project management firms. Tom started his career with Plus One in 1995 and has over 17 years of experience in corporate fitness, health promotion, and disease management consulting. Tom has served in a variety of positions during his career with Plus One, including Exercise Specialist, General Manager, Director of Operations, and Director of Business Development. Tom holds a BS in Exercise Physiology from Hofstra University. Tom is an active volunteer in his community, serving as a youth coach for football and baseball, and on the Board of Directors for Little League Baseball.
